The Transfer Window has been open since July 1st, and we are still waiting for our first significant player signing.
After years of speculations, we are finally gearing up for the next MLS season. According to online journalist Michelle Kaufman, Inter Miami CF may sign its first few players by July 31.
Lets focus on the possible players and the main rumors so far.
MOST RELIABLE SO FAR: MATIAS PELLEGRINI – LEFT WINGER – 19 Yrs/ARGENTINA – CLUB ESTUDIANTES
We were mentioning possible talks between Inter Miami and Estudiantes for, Wonderkid Midfielder Matias Pellegrini for $10 Million, which is the most solid lead so far since the player has expressed interest for the MLS and Inter Miami’s project in particular. When all eyes are on Estudiantes star Juan Marcos Foyth, also 19, you can count on Beckham’s flair to find the perfect young winger for his team.
With 15 games played last year, Pelegrini has scored 3 times. He became an instant fan favorite by scoring an amazing goal versus Boca Juniors. For his second game as a professional player, he made his way past 3 players and couldn’t be stopped for over 30 yards, before finishing the job himself. No doubt that the Argentinian community in Miami would be rooting for him. A real bet and a possible massive resell to Europe in a few years.
FIFA LEGEND: FALCAO – STRIKER – 33 Yrs/COLOMBIA – AS MONACO
No need to present the Colombian Legend “El Tigre” Radamel Falcao. Back to back winner of the UEFA Europa League (2011 and 2012), 1 European Supercup, 2 Portuguese Leagues and 1 French League, and more Cups. His impressive stats shows 268 goals and 36 assists in 455 games. Most fans will tell you that Falcao is the ideal player for Inter Miami. The solid Colombian community in Miami will certainly be a plus.
After 6 long seasons with Monaco (including a very unsuccessful one year loan to Chelsea), Falcao is close to the end of his contract, and most likely from his European career, unless he wants to go back to Porto – the club that revealed him. No doubt that a player like Falcao would give Inter Miami a great spotlight, and enhance the quality of the MLS. Inter Miami will still have to convince the player, which Turkey’s top club Galatasaray has been trying for the past weeks, unsuccessfully.
BET ON THE PAST: DANI ALVES – RIGHT DEFENDER – 36 Yrs/BRASIL – NO CLUB
After a year at Paris Saint Germain, the right defender wants to put his season behind him. Alves has won most trophies, including 2 UEFA Champions League. While PSG won the League, they had a very bad European campaign and still very far from their objective of winning the Champions League. Alves had serious flaws during most of PSG key games, and while he keeps a very good reputation, he is clearly far from his Barcelona years. Despite a questionable season, Alves has shown during the Copa America that he still has some football in him, being named MVP after Brasil won the title.
It would be a clear advantage to have such experienced players to mentor our youth, but with the competition of some Premier League clubs (Man City, West Ham) and their massive wallets, Alves will certainly ask for a pretty big salary. Is Inter Miami ready to allocate so much money for a defender? At 36 how many more years can he play?
THE IMPOSSIBLE: LUIS SUAREZ – STRIKER – 32 Yrs/URUGUAY – FC BARCELONA
Younger than Falcao, Luis Suarez is no doubt the most ambitious name on the list. One year before the end of his contract, there may be a way for Inter Miami to sign the player for way less. Barcelona has signed Griezmann and is in desperate need of funds to try buying back Neymar. So, is there a world where an -older- top scorer will join Inter Miami this year?
There is not a lot of chance for it to happen, but Beckham has very strong arguments to convince him. Unless the talks will resume next year, while Suarez can leave Barcelona for $0. No doubt that it will shake the whole MLS, and especially rivals-to-be Los Angeles Galaxy, as Ibrahimovic would not be the strongest striker anymore. Are we ready to bite some ears?
