Named as one of the experienced targets for Inter Miami, the veteran defender may choose to finish his career far from the MLS.
Hector Moreno is part of the big cleaning at the Real Sociedad. The Spanish club, which has been very active in the summer market already signing Goalkeeper Alex Remiro, Swedish striker Alexander Isak, Portu and most notably, the everlasting wonderkid Martin Odegaard, loaned from Real Madrid. As they look up to the next season, some players have been asked to find another club. Tough defender Moreno is looking for his next challenge.
The solid Mexican defender was an early prospect for the Miami roster, but reliable sources claim that the checkbooks behind Qatar’s Al Gharafa club may have changed that future. Hector Moreno would certainly fit in the Latin team spirit, he is still young (31) for a defender, and his experience in La Liga Santander, Champions League and his International run for Mexico (he is still an important part of the team), could stabilize our future defense and share his experience with younger players.
With the signing of Pellegrini already allocating one of the three precious “Designated Players” spots, there is no interest in rushing. Inter Miami CF will start during the 2020 MLS season, and there will be one more transfer window before the club kicks its first official game. With Moreno most likely signing in Qatar, Beckham will have to use its flair and activate his networks to find the best possible defender. It seems that the team wants to recruit one designated player per line (defense, midfield, attack), which is a smart move that will stabilize the team on the field.
If we don’t get Moreno, the fans would certainly settle for David Luiz. He is on a cheap transfer fee and would be a perfect fit with his “fighter spirit”.
