The Sun had reported a discussion between El Tigre and David Beckham, and these discussions took a public turn.
Present in Colombia to promote a brand of whiskey, David Beckham spoke highly about Colombian football. And he did not fail to praise the captain of the national team.
“Falcao is an excellent player and scorer,”Said Beckham in remarks reported by Marca Colombia.
Words that could have seemed innocent if the president of Inter Miami did not then state that he wants to recruit Colombian players for his team.
“Now that I have my team in Miami, I hope to bring in Colombian players. It would be fantastic. (…) I have discussed with some of them but you know that I can not name them,”He told the press, including Futbol Red.
The Colombian striker has been evolving for 10 years in Europe. In 2009, he was transferred from River Plate to Porto. Since then, the 33-year-old has worn the colors of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and especially Monaco. Falcao won the Ligue 1 in 2017 and continues to score at the highest level. This season he has scored 15 goals, but El Tigre may not roar much longer in Europe.
Under contract with AS Monaco until 2020, he will be free to go when Inter Miami enters the MLS and would be more than welcomed to take his talents to Miami.
