Ex-Barca President Joan Gaspart talks about Messi’s clause

Last week, Lionel Messi (32 years) made the front page of the daily Sport, in a long interview where he spoke about the transfer window, his future or the direction that FC Barcelona is taking. It coincided with the visit of David Beckham and Jorge Mas in Barcelona. And in Spain, some of “La Pulga’s words have not gone unnoticed. Guest of the show El Larguero on the Cadena Ser, Joan Gaspart, former president of Barça between 2000 and 2003, commented the statements of the Argentinian.

This clause is part of Barca’s philosophy

The end-of-season clause was also used by players like Iniesta and Xavi at the time. This is not new. The fact that Messi disposes of it is part of Barça’s philosophy. I do not think that Messi’s words are a mark of distrust for Bartomeu or the board of directors, Judge former President Blaugrana in remarks reported by As. I know Leo very well and this is not his style. After each Messi statement, there is a ‘but’, and even if the club spokesperson understands them as irrelevant, I think they are warnings to the council, that he does not like how the club is going.

Guess we will have to wait to see, if a move to Inter Miami CF is truly in discussions..
