According to the credible UK outlet “The Independent”, the 33 years old midfielder has agreed to terms with Inter Miami CF and is set to join the club at the end of his contract with Manchester City. He would be the biggest name to sign so far. A good idea?
The internet is buzzing with headlines reading, “David Silva is set to head to Miami.” It surprised everyone because many names have been floating around the rumor web, and Silva was not one of them. It is also surprising since the 2010 FIFA World Champion has always been clear about his future plans, and they did not include Miami, nor the MLS.
Silva arrived in Manchester City in 2010 and his contract expires in 2020. He recently confided that he would leave having played for ten years in City, despite being named the team’s captain for this season: “No, it’s the last (season), ten years are enough for me” explained the 33 year old Spaniard, in statements reported by The Daily Mirror. “This is the perfect time for me. At first, City was talking about two years, but I decided to sign for another year, so I’ll finish after ten years. This completes the cycle. It’s a nice round number. I will never see myself playing with another team against City. So ten years is everything. “
In regards to the future, Silva already spoke about a small idea in mind, saying he would like to return to the region where he was born, in the Canary Islands: “I would like to finish my career in Las Palmas. It depends on the team and the players. I can not come here to play in second division with this team (Las Palmas is currently playing in Spanish D2). “
So he apparently chose Miami. We are still awaiting the club to officially comment on this operation
